Dotted Swiss Regency Dress

I made a new dress!

I didn't quite finish it (as you can see by the super huge seam allowance visible through the sleeve, which still needs finishing, among other things) but it was definitely wearable, and I'm pretty happy with it! It's made of 100% cotton dotted swiss, hand sewn with cotton thread, and unlined for now, but I may add a plain cotton lining behind the waistband. I haven't decided on buttons yet either, so for now, it's being worn pinned closed. (Which is actually period correct, after all!) ;)

  1. Very pretty! How did you like wearing your new bodiced petticoat under it? I love mine.
And where is the pretty coral bead 3 strand necklace you were going to make? It would be so pretty with this.

    1. The new petticoat was great, but not a new thrill since I've got two others (a red and a blue, and all the same pattern). ;) I didn't bother with the necklace because I would have only had time to throw the beads on a string and call it a day, and I'd rather take the time to knot between each one. . . So, I'll do that for the next time I wear this. . . And, it's now grown to be a coral necklace, bonnet, and reticule, instead of just the necklace, mwah ah ah! So many projects, so little time. . . ;)

  2. It looks great. I'm in process of making myself a white muslin -bib front - dress (at moment having slippy shoulder issues). Is yours a button back or a bib front? I can't tell from this photo.

    1. Well, in this picture, it's a safety-pinned-in-back (LOL!) but it will eventually be buttoned in the back!
